We're devastated to hear about the impact of the floods in Lismore, Australia, and the catastrophic damage to the Living Entertainment store - one of our amazing retailers and truly renowned in the hi-fi industry for their dedication to the community and invaluable tutorial and review content. At Hi Fi Racks, we would like to express our best wishes, thoughts and support to Living Entertainment, and to all those within New South Wales and Queensland who have been affected by this natural disaster. We were truly shocked to learn what has taken place over the past week, which has seen both businesses and homes completely destroyed by devastating floods, and thousands forced to evacuate from its unprecedented impact.

Living Entertainment Show the Aftermath

Nat & Renae are family-run business owners that have worked tirelessly since 2014 building Living Entertainment into a well-respected brand in the Australian hifi community. Both Nat and Renae are well-known faces to many who enjoy their frequent live tutorials for all things audio and visual, featuring their incredible knowledge and infectious passion for all aspects of home entertainment. Having relaunched in 2020 in a custom-designed showroom, their new retail space incorporated a substantial mezzanine - ideal for a location where floods are typical, and residents well-versed in moving their belongings to higher ground.

Having moved their retail stock and furniture to their two mezzanine levels to save their business from the floodwaters on Sunday evening, official warnings announced that the flood had broken the previous flood record by another three metres. Consequently, just two years after their re-launch, Nat and Renae are now faced with the harsh reality of the total loss of over $400,000 in stock, and ultimately their livelihood, with their entire store submerged.

7News: Lismore's Worst Flood

Due to the prevalence of flooding in this area, insurance companies are unwilling to insure any business within Lismore for flood damage. That’s why we are joining the rally within the hi-fi community to help Living Entertainment from our own pockets via their GoFundMe page, to bring them one step closer to getting back on their feet again as the floodwaters subside and the painful clean-up process begins.

Wharfedale Australia's Plea for Fundraising Efforts

Any donation you can make will help Living Entertainment get back on its feet, from the initial clean-up operation to hopefully the revival of this fantastic store, if Nat and Renae can find the courage and strength to rebuild. Even if you’re only able to help by donating the price of your usual Friday coffee, no matter how small or large, every contribution counts.
